Metadata Requirements

Purpose of this page

This page gives a short summary of metadata fields that are helpful to describe and disseminate a resource. All metadata fields are differentiated in mandatory or optional. Mandatory metadata fields are a strong requirement for depositing a resource at the repository. Optional metadata contain information that has proven useful, but which is not required.
It is strongly advised to use detailed metadata that is helpful for both the original target group of the resource (e.g. using domain-specific metadata fields and vocabulary) and user groups of other domains. Metadata values have to be provided in at least (but not restricted to) English language.
